A Heart of Forgiveness

Forgiveness is easy to forget once an argument cools down.

For me personally, it comes down to remembering to forgive once I remember what was wronged or what I think was done in the wrong way. When a situation starts to escalate, I just want to calm down, take a break, and back out of it. That makes forgiveness harder to remember, because I am so focused on cooling off.

Coming back to it

Revisiting that situation down the road becomes a new challenge. As a man, I tend to write it off, suck it up, and move on. But I need to get better at asking forgiveness from those I have wronged and offering it to those who have wronged me.

Lord, help me to have a heart of forgiveness in the daily challenges we face. Help me with all the things that get us stirred up and catch us off guard. Help us to focus on you so we do not live in a spirit of unforgiveness. Help us to do as you have taught us and forgive others and forgive ourselves without any strings attached.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Every bit of Creation points back to its Maker. This one points to Ephesians 4:32:

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:32)
